Art and Me


The work of such artists as; Cy Twombly, Frank Auerbach and Frank Bowling appeals to me so, I believe, because of the notion of life and energy that is embodied in the painting. I thought this as I looked at Frank Bowling’s Rosebush in the Tate Britain a few weeks ago. 

The energy that is embodied in the dripping, sinuously glooping paint as it strolls, slides and salivates down the canvas. It is also perhaps the ideals and notion of fate that are inevitably present behind such a method of painting. And the many layers that make the painting whole so that is a rich, multistoried (pun intended) piece.
